On
the second day of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026, Union
Minister of New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of
Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of
State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shri Shripad Yesso Naik
participated in “The Next Terawatt” ministerial plenary, a high-level dialogue
convened by the International Solar Alliance, CEEW and Energiva Ventures. The
plenary brought together senior government and industry voices to map the
international renewable energy implementation architecture for the decades
ahead.
The
discussions deliberated on four key priority areas critical to accelerating the
next phase of global renewable energy expansion: integrated energy planning,
supply and storage; energy infrastructure expansion and resilience;
terawatt-scale financing of projects and ecosystems; and digitalisation and AI
for secure and affordable energy. The discussions outlined a strategic roadmap
from now to 2050, aligned with India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Odisha
witnessed the signing of 18 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), representing a
total proposed investment of approximately ₹1.17 lakh crore, in the presence of
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh
Deo.
In
a separate development, Bondada Engineering Ltd., part of the Bondada Group,
signed an MoU with the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board
(Goa-IPB), committing a proposed investment of approximately ₹3,000 crore
towards renewable energy projects in Goa.
BRE
Summit & Expo 2026 has brought together representatives from over 130 countries,
including more than 40 Ministers, senior policymakers, investors, financial
institutions and industry leaders. Australia, Denmark, the European Union,
France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom are
participating as Country Partners, providing opportunities to strengthen
bilateral cooperation and facilitate investment and technology partnerships
across the clean energy value chain.
Thirteen
States and Union Territories are also showcasing their renewable energy potential,
project pipelines, manufacturing capabilities and policy initiatives,
highlighting the breadth and diversity of investment opportunities across
India.
The
day also featured the first leg of Watts Next: Innovators’ Ideas for India’s
Energy Security, Agenda 2047, a by-invite ideas forum curated in
partnership with BloombergNEF. Moving beyond conventional panel discussions,
the session brought together leading innovators, entrepreneurs and industry
leaders to present bold, actionable ideas on technology, finance and policy
that could shape India’s energy system as the country approaches its centenary
of independence. Speakers included Sumant Sinha (Founder, Chairman and CEO,
ReNew), Shreya Mishra (Co-Founder and CEO, SolarSquare), Girish R Tanti
(Co-Founder, Suzlon Group), Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala (IIT Madras) and Meredith
Annex (Head of Clean Power Research, BloombergNEF).
India’s
renewable energy expansion will require sustained investment in generation
capacity, energy storage, transmission networks, domestic manufacturing and
supporting infrastructure. The Summit is providing a platform for public and
private sector stakeholders to explore innovative financing models, strengthen
investment partnerships and identify solutions to accelerate project implementation.
