JCB India has
achieved a major milestone with the production and sale of its 600,000th
machine, marking over four decades of partnership with customers, dealers,
suppliers, and communities contributing to national infrastructure growth. The
600,000thmachine is a Backhoe Loader, one of the most widely used
construction machines in the countryknown for its versatility and efficiency
across infrastructure, rural, and agricultural applications.
Over the years,
the company has expanded its manufacturing footprint, built a strong supplier
ecosystem, and developed products suited to local conditions. With six
manufacturing facilities, the country serves as a key global manufacturing hub
for JCB, with machines exported to more than 135 countries.
Speaking on the
occasion, Mr. Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director, JCB India, said,
“This milestone is much more than a number. It reflects the trust that
customers have placed in JCB over several decades. The Backhoe Loader, which
marks this achievement, has become closely linked with India’s infrastructure
and development journey. This milestone has been made possible by the enduring
trust and support of our customers, dealers, suppliers, and stakeholders, who
have been integral to our journey. Many of our partners now span second and
third generations, reflecting strong, long-standing relationships built on
shared values and mutual growth.”
JCB Chairman, Lord
Bamford said: “JCB celebrated its 80th birthday last
year and for nearly fifty of those eighty years, we’ve been selling JCBs to
customers in India. I am delighted that our birthday milestone has been quickly
followed with the 600,000th machine sale milestone in India. It is
fitting that the 600,000th machine is a JCB Backhoe Loader, the
machine that has contributed so much to building India’s infrastructure in
recent decades. It is JCB’s most versatile product and our customers will
continue to use the Backhoe Loader for many years to come to shape India’s
future, which is fantastic.”
Mr Shetty of JCB
India added, “As the country continues to invest in
infrastructure, we remain committed to supporting this growth through
innovation, local manufacturing, and skill development. We are also focused on
creating greater value for customers through reliable and fuel-efficient
machines that deliver higher productivity and lower operating costs.”
JCB India is a
strong embodiment of the Make in India vision and continues to align closely
with the Government through investments in manufacturing, engineering,
innovation, and people. The company is also strengthening its focus on
diversity and inclusion, with increasing participation of women across
manufacturing, engineering, and leadership roles. Beyond manufacturing, JCB
India contributes to communities through its CSR initiatives—supporting
livelihoods and enabling progress at multiple levels, including efforts to help
artisans showcase their craftsmanship and access wider markets.
